Ecobricks - Reducing our Waste

Ecobricks

The EARTH Centre is not only whole heartedly committed to helping the disabled, we are also extremely passionate about leaving a sustainable and environmentally friendly legacy.

The children that come to our centre for therapy benefit from our pristine natural environment as much as they do from interacting with and riding the horses.

We started a number of our environmental sustainability initiatives in 2013 / 2014, which at the time included reintroducing indigenous plants to the centre, monitoring and slowing water runoff and setting up a recycling station. We are now taking the recycling initiatives one step further with our new Ecobrick collection centre that was set up in July this year.

When plastics are littered, burned or dumped, they poison the Earth, Air, and Water. However, we can save, segregate and pack these plastics into bottles, to make building blocks that can be used over and over again. Getting involved in this together with you, our supporters, can help us to build green spaces that enrich our community and environment.

Please help us, to help you to do some good in the way of reducing your plastic footprint by creating and collecting Ecobricks for our new project! The What and the How can be found by watching these two videos:

How to make Ecobricks: https://www.ecobricks.org/how/

Specifications: we would like to keep the Ecobricks to clear 1 litre cool drink bottles. Please also collect small green, brown and clear beer / cider bottles and bring them too.

Drop off is at The EARTH Centre, 125 Peter Road, Ruimsig (opposite Monash University), Monday to Friday from 08.30 to 15.30. Alternative times, and Saturdays can be arranged upon request for large quantities of Ecobricks.
