How our programmes work

Horses respond to body language, emotion and behaviour with honesty and sensitivity. Guided activities create immediate, practical opportunities for participants to develop awareness, communication, coordination and confidence.

Sessions are facilitated by trained team members and planned around clear objectives. Activities may take place on the ground or, where appropriate, on horseback. The welfare of every participant and pony remains central throughout.

Our programme areas

Equine-Facilitated Therapy

Goal-led activities that may complement a participant’s broader therapeutic or developmental support.

Equine-Facilitated Learning

Experiential sessions that encourage problem-solving, communication, teamwork and self-confidence.

School and Group Programmes

Structured programmes developed with schools, care organisations and community partners.

Why horses?

Horses are attentive, responsive and non-judgemental. Their movement and behaviour can motivate participation while providing clear feedback in the moment. Building a relationship with a horse can also create a powerful sense of trust, responsibility and achievement.

Potential areas of development

  • Balance, posture, coordination and body awareness
  • Communication and social interaction
  • Confidence, motivation and emotional regulation
  • Focus, sequencing and problem-solving
  • Responsibility, empathy and relationship-building

Outcomes differ for every participant. Programme goals are developed responsibly and reviewed in consultation with the participant’s support network where appropriate.
